When it comes to installing an industrial heating system, it’s only worth investing in the right one.

With so many different types of industrial heating to choose from, it can be hard to know which is best suited to your business and its premises. Our complete guide to the three types of industrial heating system will help you make an informed decision.

1. Suspended warm air heating

Powerful and reliable, suspended warm air heating is the system of choice for many businesses. Warm air heating systems pulls air over a heat exchanger to heat it, then transfers the warm air into the building via vents.

At Heritage, we stock suspended warm air heating units from industry-leading brands including Powrmatic, Reznor, and Winterwarm.

Consistent heat distribution

These systems distribute warm air very evenly, so they are especially suited to environments where a consistent interior temperature is needed.

Space saving

Warm air heaters can be suspended from the ceiling, mounted from walls, or installed as floor standing units where needed. The type of warm air heating unit you choose will depend on the layout of your building.

This is why suspended warm heating systems are often used in factories and warehouses, where floor space is frequently occupied.

Suited to large buildings

Suspended warm heaters can be used to effectively heat large buildings, particularly when installed alongside strategically placed destratification fans.

As heat rises, cold air falls. This means in large commercial buildings with high ceilings, warm air can get trapped at ceiling level, whilst cold air is pushed down to the floor. Destratification fans combat this by pushing warm air back down to the lower levels where it is needed.

2. Electric heating

A good industrial heating option for premises without gas or oil facilities is electric heating. Units can be suspended above work areas and can be used to heat specific areas of your building (loading bays, workstations, factory floors, etc.).

We supply and install Powrmatic PQ Electric heaters, a high-powered, energy efficient unit with flexible installation options.

High conversion efficiency

Electric heating units convert close to 100% of the electricity they use into heat. This ensures the energy used to heat your building is put to maximum use, with minimal wastage.

Energy saving

Modern electric heaters usually offer energy saving controls. These can control both heat and energy output to ensure efficient performance, whilst saving on energy usage.

Less maintenance

With fewer moving parts to go wrong, electric heating does require as much maintenance as some other systems. This will save you money on unexpected repairs.

3. Radiant heating

Radiant heating is a cost-effective heating solution ideally suited to large spaces. It uses infrared radiation to directly heat objects in its path, rather than circulating warm air.

Heritage supply radiant heating from trusted brands Powrmatic and Reznor. Units come in a range of options and are installed by our Gas Safe qualified engineers.

Quick working

Infrared radiation is generated immediately, so you will feel the benefits of radiant heating very quickly once the system is turned on.

Spot heating

You can mount radiant heaters above areas of your building that are used most frequently. These heaters will spot heat the area below, ensuring it is always warm. This way you won’t waste energy heating areas of your building that don’t need it.

Ideal for large buildings

In large commercial buildings where loading bay doors are frequently opened and closed, radiant heating is especially effective. This is because it directly heats the people and objects inside a space, rather than the air around them. These people and objects in turn become a secondary source of radiant heat. Warm air might escape a building when doors are opened, but radiant heat does not.
