Types of Air Conditioning

There are a variety of different kinds of air conditioning units, and which one you choose to install in your commercial building will depend on the size of the space, the type of work environment and the design of the building.

Here’s a closer look at each kind of air condition unit we have available at Heritage Heating and Cooling and the kinds of environments and buildings they are the most suited to:

Wall Mounted

Wall-mounted air conditioning units, as the name suggests, are mounted onto the interior wall of a building to provide a constant stream of cool air to the surrounding space. They can be installed almost anywhere, and they sit high up the wall in a room so they can blend into the background.

Stylish and slim, wall-mounted units complement any interior décor and are suitable for a wide range of applications. They are easy to install and offer both efficient cooling and effective heating designed to keep you and your employees comfortable all year long.

Due to their non-intrusive design and quiet operation, these kinds of units are great for homes, offices, shops and restaurants. Large rooms may require multiple units spread throughout so the perfect temperature can reach every nook and cranny of the room.

Ceiling Cassette

Ceiling cassette air conditioners are mounted inside the ceiling of a room. The cool air falls to the floor, but the unit’s powerful fans ensure that it is blown into all the available space. Their ceiling position means that these units are ideal for rooms and buildings where space is limited, and they can be installed in the centre of a room so only one unit will be needed to cool the entire area.

Ceiling cassette air conditioners are ideal for shops, restaurants and offices, really anywhere that requires consistent cooling throughout the working day. For buildings with a false ceiling, these units are perfect, as the main body of the unit is hidden within the ceiling to blend seamlessly into the environment.

Ceiling cassette units can provide energy-efficient heating and cooling to your workplace with lower running costs than traditional units.

Split Units

Split air conditioning units come in both floor and ceiling models, so they can fit in most buildings regardless of any space restrictions. These units are made up of an indoor and outdoor unit, but unlike other kinds of air conditioning, they do not require ductwork systems; they are connected with electrical wires and tubing, making them a more efficient and environmentally friendly kind of air conditioning unit.

The indoor unit pumps out cool air into the room, and the outdoor unit is installed on the exterior wall of the room being cooled. Split air conditioning units are typically quieter than other kinds of units as the loud compressor is in the exterior outdoor unit. This kind of unit can also have multiple units connected to a single outdoor unit, so you can cool multiple rooms in a business or even a larger room in a warehouse or factory.

You can choose from both floor and ceiling models, so for rooms with limited space, a ceiling model can be installed and not take up any precious floor space.

Evaporative Cooling System

For factories and warehouses, the effective movement of cool air around these large spaces is crucial to maintaining optimal working conditions. That’s where the evaporative cooling system comes into play.

Unlike traditional air conditioning units, evaporative cooling works via an adiabatic process where the outside air is passed through a water-saturated medium which leads to evaporation and an increased humidity of the air. As humidity rises, the temperature drops, and then this cool air can be used to cool the internal air or supplied directly from the outside to the inside. Fans then circulate this cool air around your factory or warehouse, making it a much more energy-efficient system than typical air conditioning units.

Evaporative cooling systems can be up to 80% more efficient than air conditioning for large spaces like warehouses, also making them a lot cheaper to run and the greener choice for the environment.
