Tropical Temperatures Set To Sweep Across The Nation

July 30 2014

Just as the majority of the British population started thinking summer 2014 was not going to be a year to remember in terms of warm weather, the whole of the UK witnessed a great increase in temperatures last week with some parts experiencing temperatures of 30C – hotter than Majorca.

Experts, who had previously forecasted that July would be the hottest month of the year due to a hot envelope of air swooping over the continent, were quick to suggest that this was not the only episode of hot weather we would experience this year. BBC News has stated that the Met office has warned of a possible heatwave as we enter August, suggesting that temperatures could increase up to a scorching 32C – very high for the UK.

British Weather Services expert Jim Dale, who was quoted in an article by national tabloid the Daily Mail, suggested that the forthcoming heatwave will feature thunderstorms here and there, although there is a high chance of the torrential weather not happening. Mr Dale also added that there is a slight chance Britain’s highest ever recorded temperature of 37C could be surpassed this year as the southern tropical winds shift towards Europe.

It is undeniable that the unexpectedly soaring temperatures either affected or caught many people off guard, especially employers. Business owners, mainly those based in manufacturing industries and warehousing amongst many others would have deeply depended on their air conditioning systems to keep production up to the usual speeds. It is correct to assume that the unprepared would have experienced a drop in productivity as the sweltering heat seriously tested employees’ efficiency.

As mentioned earlier, the roasting temperatures are set to continue over the course of the next two weeks, so it is wise to stay prepared. British weather is very dynamic, as everyone witnessed last week, so employers should always have both heating and cooling systems installed.
