The summer is officially over and the colder months are fast approaching. As such, it is important to make sure that the environment you are working in is fully equipped to tackle the less friendly elements.

Make Sure You Know How Much Space You Have
One of the most important things to consider when prepping your warehouse for autumn is knowing exactly how much space you have available, and therefore the amount of heating you require to address your spatial heating needs. Do you currently have too little heating for your warehouse or property, or do you find your workplace environment is excessively warm?
One of the worst things you can do is to get a couple of warehouse heaters and realise there are too many for your warehouse space, resulting in the warehouse being too hot to work in. On the other hand, there could be too little, resulting in the warehouse not being warm enough. It’s a careful balancing act that is easy to achieve with just a little bit of planning.

Consider Your Heating Options
This is important, as it needs to be tailored specifically to your needs. For example, there are two main heating methods when it comes to heating in warehouses; warm air heating and radiant tube heating.
Warm air heating operates on the principle of taking in air from the warehouse, heating it up through a system of heat exchangers and then releasing the warm air back into the warehouse via a fan; a sure-fire method of heating the warehouse environment.
Radiant tube heating, on the other hand, operates on the principle that it uses gas tubing which, when passed through an electric current, heats up and radiates its energy to the direct area. This method is different to warm air heating, as radiant tube heating is used to directly heat objects, surfaces and people, as opposed to warming the surrounding air.
Make Sure the Warm Air Isn’t Trapped
One thing which certainly needs to be considered when keeping your warehouse warm is to make sure that, if it has a high roof, the warm air isn’t trapped at the top of the building – this is a waste of warm air that could be harnessed effectively.
To combat this, you could implement suspended de-stratification fans that are able to circulate the warm air from the roof to the occupied space on the floor of the warehouse. These fans are designed to push the air back down into the working area, the heaters controller then calls for heat less often, as the air is warmer, reducing fuel consumption by as much as 15%.
