Maintaining Your Air Conditioner During Summer

Maintaining Your Air Conditioner During Summer

When the temperatures rise it can be challenging to work in an office or warehouse, as it can get stifling very quickly. It’s essential, then, that you have your air conditioner unit checked out before summer, so that it’s running without a hitch when you need it. However, even though professional maintenance services can be done once a year, you should still tune it up during summer in order to keep it in top condition.

Use Your AC Unit Efficiently

The air conditioner in your workplace should be used in the most efficient way throughout the summer, so that you can reduce the wear and tear of the machine. A great way to accomplish this is by ensuring that the temperature on the unit is ideal for summer, in order to save energy – either programme it by hand or with a programmable thermostat, so that you can schedule it.

Temperatures in the workplace should be at least 16 degrees Celsius or, if people need to perform rigorous physical activities, the temperature should be at least 13 degrees. Leaving it running all the time will increase the energy bill at the end of the month, so make sure that the unit is always used appropriately.

Clean or Replace the Filters

This is perhaps one of the most important steps you can undertake with an AC unit. By cleaning or replacing the filters at least once a month, you can ensure that the dust and debris that accumulates on them (and that can block the air flow in the AC unit), has gone. This way you reduce the risk of malfunctions or overheating in the machine – and the air conditioner will be at peak condition during this season.

Clean the Condenser Coils

It’s not just the filters that get dirty, but the condenser system as well. Coils work better when they’re clean, since they can better dissipate heat and save money on the air conditioning bill. If debris or any other type of dirt gets inside the coils and clogs them, the air flow may become obstructed – meaning the AC unit will lose some of its efficiency.

Are the Coolant Lines in Good Condition?

The tubes that carry the refrigerant from the evaporator to the condenser are usually protected with insulation that avoids loss of energy. If this foam coolant insulation is damaged or missing it needs to be replaced.

Maintaining your workplace’s AC unit during summer is essential to keep it running efficiently – and keep everyone at work cool and relaxed. Choose the right air conditioner unit for your business and enjoy all the benefits it can bring you, from feeling less stressed and irritable to keeping up the productivity and even improving your performance and those of your employees.
